Still catching up with Reverb10. Today's: Describe a defining moment or series of events that has affected your life this year. I'm going to call this a series of moments: I listened to the I Should Be Writing archive in 2010. That's quite a few moments, but important realizations aren't eureka moments (for more on slow hunches, read Where Good Ideas Come From by Steven Johnson).

I've talked about this amazing podcast before. Mur Lafferty is heartrendingly honest about her experience as a professional writer. Not only did I learn a lot about the profession, I learned that I really am capable of writing a novel. A good one. Maybe, someday, a great one.

I'd never have realized that without this podcast. This podcast rearranged my priorities in a major way and turned me from a disappointed desk jockey to a writer (at least in my mind). If you're a writer, do yourself a favor and listen to it too.
