I'm querying away for The Guardian of Quaestia Keep. Changed up my letter since the last post, too. Email querying is so simple, and occasionally quick too. It's far too early to tell how this one is really going over, but I still like it! An agent called it "very interesting" while rejecting it due to workload. That sounds positive.

I'm also worldbuilding for a new novel called Project: Sol. Project: Sol is my NaNoWriMo project this year. I'll be titling it at some point (possibly something verbose that would add to my word count). It's heading toward space opera territory, but I'm inclined to make sure that there's a lot of science backing it up. I'm currently noodling through the implications of sentient artificial intelligence with the help of Husband Greg, who is a computer engineer. He's already put quite a bit of thought into the topic, so I'm mining his brain.

I'm also rereading The Age of Spiritual Machines by futurist Ray Kurzweil. It's fascinating, and if you're at all interested in the topic it's a good place to get into the what-how-why's. As someone who selected a BA and an MA instead of BS and MS because the advanced math wasn't appealing, this is a bit overwhelming. I've developed some amazing and unique characters from all of it, though, so it's entirely worthwhile.

I've also joined the Critters Writers Workshop. I'm so excited! I've submitted the creation story for my Guardian universe, just to see what the process is like. I'd love to submit chapters from the next book, too. The real draw is the critique, though. I love the opportunity to comment on others' work. I always have comments (positive and negative) but I'd never dream of volunteering them except upon request. I am optimistic that Critters will turn out to be a useful tool instead of a mutual admiration society. I'll keep you apprised of further developments.
